Bernstein Realty to Participate in WBEA Expo
Bernstein Realty, a certified member of the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance (WBEA) and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), is very excited to participate in the WBEA Annual Conference tomorrow! This year’s EXPO, “Making Connections Count” will be the largest event of the year with over 1,200 people attending the two-day conference at Reliant Center. The event begins this Wednesday with workshops and a reception featuring a speech by Mayor Annise Parker. Thursday is the Exhibitor Extravaganza, which begins at 8:30 am with a ribbon cutting. There will also be a luncheon with speaker Lynn Tilton, an award ceremony, a silent auction and many wonderful networking opportunities. The purpose of the conference is to connect women’s business enterprises with corporate purchasers, governmental agencies and other women-owned businesses for the primary purpose of creating opportunities to work together. We hope you can make it to this wonderful event and drop by to visit our booth from 9am-4pm on Thursday!

Bernstein Realty Participates in Pet-A-Palooza
On Saturday, May 12th Bernstein Realty had a booth at Mix 96.5′s First Annual Pet-A-Palooza. This wonderful event featured many fun activities as well as an “adoption alley” that had several non-profit animal rescue organizations with dogs for adoption as well as information about adoption and fostering. It was a great day and Bernstein Realty enjoyed meeting new people, handing out dog treats and letting people know about our services. Bernstein Realty also premiered its very own dog toy!

Wayne Cohen Completes Ultra-Marathon
Bernstein Realty’s Wayne Cohen, known for his hard work and strong work ethic, recently displayed these two characteristics in an extreme way by completing the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa (56 km or 34.8 miles) with his wife, Olya. This marathon is known for being one of the most beautiful and difficult ultra marathons in the world and takes place along the Cape Peninsula with extraordinary scenic views of the land and ocean. Cohen has run over 35 marathons, including 11 Boston marathons, with a personal best of 2:58. In 2011, Cohen was awarded Bernstein Realty’s Top Listing Agent for January, February, March and October and he also achieved Bernstein Realty’s Award of Excellence, an award presented to the Top 5 Producers of the company for the year. Cohen has built his business with hard work and continues to amaze his clients and colleagues with his unwavering determination and success in all of his endeavors.

Amy Bernstein Speaks at Nextgen Realtor Group Luncheon
Amy Bernstein, President and Broker of Bernstein Realty, was invited to participate as a guest speaker at the Nextgen Realtor Group’s Networking with Real Estate Champions Luncheon at the Toyota Center. Amy Bernstein Speaks at WCR Luncheon, West Houston Chapter
Amy Bernstein was invited to be a panelist at the Woman’s Council of Realtors West Houston Chapter’s Extreme Networking Luncheon. Amy, along with several other Top Producing Brokers, shared her knowledge with other real estate agents and affiliates. It was a wonderful event!

Bernstein Realty Agent Sponsors Easter Event
Bernstein Realty agent Janice Ratliff was one of the sponsors of a recent Easter Egg Extravaganza in Cinco Ranch. The event featured music by Radio Disney, an Easter egg hunt and photographs taken with the Easter Bunny. Ratliff made arrangements to bring the Easter Bunny, portrayed wonderfully and charismatically by Norma Rea, another Bernstein Realty agent. The Easter Bunny (Norma Rea) was available for photographs, taken by the talented Ron Johnson, also a Bernstein Realty agent. The event was a huge success with many children and families in attendance and having a wonderful time. The event also featured a wide variety of other fun activities.

Bernstein Realty’s 2011 Awards Celebration Luncheon
Amy Bernstein, president of Bernstein Realty, recently hosted the company’s 2011 Awards Celebration Luncheon at Tony’s.

Mark McNitt received the company’s highest honor when he was presented with the “Top Producer” award for 2011. This is an extraordinary achievement for McNitt who has received this prestigious honor previously during his 18-year tenure with Bernstein Realty. McNitt was also named as the company’s Top Sales agent and Top Listing agent for 2011.

Tricia David was awarded the Top Leasing Agent for 2011and Susan Wolf McCauley won the award for the Highest Dollar sale. Julie Brann was presented with the company’s Shining Star award and Tricia David and Susanne Pizzitola were given the Rising Star award for 2011.

Bernstein also presented the Achievement of Excellence award to the company’s five highest producing agents for the year; Wayne Cohen, Estelle Elles, Mark McNitt, Janice Ratliff and Rich Stone.

Several anniversaries with the company were also celebrated that day, including 5 years for Myra Alderete and Julie Brann, 10 years for Gloria Moorman and Susan Wolf McCauley and 15 years for Barbara Murdock. Bernstein gave appreciation remarks to several agents and staff that went above and beyond their real estate activities throughout the year. Bernstein also thanked everyone at the company for their outstanding contributions to the record-breaking success and growth of Bernstein Realty in 2011.

Bernstein Realty Adopts-A-Family for the Holidays
As part of an ongoing tradition, Bernstein Realty selects a charitable organization for holiday giving. This year, the firm adopted a family through Candlelighters and collected toys, gifts and clothing. Mr. and Mrs. Claus even made a special appearance! Candlelighters Adopt-A-Family began almost 20 years ago and its goal is to spread holiday cheer to those families who find the season especially difficult while coping with a child diagnosed with cancer or having recently lost a child to cancer. The annual event brings together the agents and staff of the firm to ring in the season. The Bernstein Realty group participated in a Scavenger Hunt where the clues lead them to arts and craft supplies in and around the office building. Bernstein Realty Celebrates Amy Bernstein’s 50th Birthday
2011 marks the 50th birthday of Amy Bernstein, President and Broker of Bernstein Realty. The agents and staff of the boutique residential real estate firm planned a surprise luncheon to honor Bernstein.

Under the guise of a staff lunch, Bernstein arrived at one of her favorite Houston eateries, Ciro’s Italian Grill, to a room full of her agents and staff. The afternoon included a welcome and toast by long-time broker associate Bob Murdock who also served as the event’s emcee. As a special surprise, Bernstein was serenaded “Happy Birthday” by Ciro A. Lampasas, owner of Ciro’s Italian Grill. Surprised and shocked, Bernstein was speechless.

At Bernstein Realty, it is about the team, the family and the supportive work environment that Bernstein has created and molded. The touching event encapsulated the culture of Bernstein Realty and the touching thoughts, stories and remarks will leave a lasting effect on those present that day.

Janice Ratliff, Bernstein Realty’s 2010 top producer, recently earned DavidWeekley Homes’ 2010 Top Realtor® Bronze Award for the west Houston sales team. A relocation specialist, ratliff has been featured as one of the top-producing agents in cinco ranch for several years. She and her husband have been residents of Cinco Ranch for almost 20 years. They are known for their appearances at events as Santa and Mrs. Claus for more than 20 years, and holding fund-raisers benefiting the city’s homeless children.

Bernstein Realty Agent and Dog perform Frisbee demonstrations
Mark McNitt, Bernstein Realty’s 2010 Top Sales Agent and proud member of the Houston Canine Frisbee Disc Club performed Frisbee Dog demonstrations at Cinco Ranch’s new 24 home model park. The club provides demonstrations at local charity events, school functions and corporate gatherings. Their goal is to heighten public awareness of the happiness dogs can bring to people’s lives when properly trained and to educate the public about the need for animal population control through spaying/neutering over euthanasia and to promote canine rescue organizations.

On Saturday, November 20, Bernstein Realty agents, staff, clients, and friends joined together to participate in the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s Annual Chili Cook-off at Traders Village. The cooking team was led by David Moorman & Stan Davis (chili cooks) and David Moorman (bean cook). Bernstein Realty placed for both their chili and beans! The day-long event helped raise money for youth and education scholarships. A great time was had by all!

Bernstein Realty gives back to the Houston community.
Houston Food BankAs part of Bernstein Realty’s on-going commitment to the Houston community, the real estate firm partnered with the Houston Food Bank for its spring and summer philanthropy projects. The project, split in to two parts, consists of a food drive which benefits the numerous programs the Food Bank offers to feed and nourish the community, and a volunteer day at the Food Bank’s Northwest Mall location. On Saturday, June 19, a group of Bernstein Realty agents, staff, and family were a part of the driving force behind the work that the Food Bank does on a daily basis. The group worked in an assembly line preparing boxes that will give a senior or new mother in the community with a 2-3 day supply of food. After several hours, the group successfully put together 675 boxes that will be distributed throughout the city.

Houston topped this year’s Forbes list of cities where a recent college graduate can get a strong start on a high-powered career. The magazine placed the Bayou City at No. 1 for its “business-friendly environment and abundance of oil money,” considering it is home to 14 of the country’s largest companies.

The fate of the Eighth Wonder of the World? Reliant Park officials have unveiled a $1.35 billion plan that would convert the Astrodome, the world’s first domed sports stadium, in to a multipurpose convention and science center.

2010 JDRF Promise Ball
Amy Bernstein, President and Broker, Bob Murdock, Broker Associate, and Barbara Murdock recently attended the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)’s 2010 Promise Ball – An Evening of Hope. Held at the Hilton Americas-Houston, the event featured dancing, dinner, and silent and live auctions. Bernstein Realty’s long time friends and clients, the Wright Family, were honored for their commitment and dedication to the Foundation.

JDRF’s mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. The Promise Ball was a wonderful event which raised vitally needed funds for diabetes research. In addition, as avid supporters of JDRF, Bernstein Realty associates participate annually in the Walk to Cure Diabetes held in the fall.

Bernstein Realty celebrates 25 years
2010 marks the 25th anniversary of Bernstein Realty. In honor of the company’s silver anniversary, the agents and staff of the boutique residential real estate firm planned a surprise luncheon to honor Amy Bernstein, founder, president and broker.

Under the guise of a lunch meeting, Bernstein arrived at one of her favorite Houston eateries, Tony’s, to a room full of her agents and staff. Surprised and shocked, the normally verbose Bernstein was speechless.

The firm’s Advisory Council, including Estelle Elles, Mark McNitt, Gloria Moorman, Bob Murdock, Mary Piper, and Janice Ratliff, coordinated the event. The six, with the help of Marketing Director, Lindsay Adler, spent close to two months preparing for the day and took every opportunity to make the occasion special and memorable for Bernstein, the agents and staff.

The afternoon included a welcome and toast by long-time broker associate Bob Murdock who also served as the event’s emcee. Several agents and staff members rose to toast Amy and share memories and anecdotes. The luncheon concluded with a fabulous video presentation highlighting the company’s 25 years in business and the memories made along the way.

When asked about Bernstein Realty’s success, Bernstein, consistently one of Houston’s top producers and driving force behind the company, emphatically answers that it was not, is not and never is all about her. Bernstein Realty Sales Associate Janice Ratliff recently sponsored the annual Easter Egg Extravaganza in Cinco Ranch. The occasion was even sweeter as Murdock, a member of the firm’s Advisory Council, also celebrated his twenty-year anniversary with the company in 2009.

Other award recipients included Mark McNitt as Top Sales Agent, Katie Aguilar as Top Listing Agent, Tyler New as Top Leasing Agent, Judy Levin as the Rising Star, and Susan Wolf McCauley with the Highest Dollar Sale.
